Tom Lemense was recently appointed to the board of directors of the Belgian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, based in Brussels.
The Belgian-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1938, with the aim of promoting commercial contacts between Belgium and Portugal as well as Portuguese culture in Belgium. This foundation goes back to a presence in Belgium of Portuguese merchants from at least 1500, which was indicated f.e. by the presence of the so-called Portuguese Nation in Antwerp, which was granted special privileges in commercial and judicial traffic.
Tom Lemense's personal connection with Portugal and the fact that he speaks Portuguese created a desire to engage. This desire is professionally inspired, but also cultural, from a love for Portugal.
Tom Lemense hopes to make an active contribution to the further development of the Chamber of Commerce in the coming years, and looks forward to working with the other directors.
The mandate is for six years.
Tom Lemense foi nomeado diretor da Câmara de Comércio Belgo-Portuguesa, com sede em Bruxelas.
A Câmara de Comércio Belgo-Portuguesa foi fundada em 1938, com o objetivo de promover os contactos comerciais entre a Bélgica e Portugal, bem como a cultura portuguesa na Bélgica. Esta fundação remonta à presença de comerciantes portugueses na Bélgica desde, pelo menos, 1500, o que é evidenciado, por exemplo, pela existência da chamada Nação Portuguesa em Antuérpia, à qual foram concedidos privilégios especiais no tráfego comercial e judicial.
A ligação pessoal de Tom Lemense com Portugal e o facto de falar português despertaram o desejo de se envolver com a Câmara de Comércio. Este desejo tem uma inspiração profissional, mas também cultural, motivado pelo seu amor por Portugal.
Tom Lemense espera dar um contributo ativo para o desenvolvimento da Câmara de Comércio nos próximos anos, e está entusiasmado por trabalhar com os outros diretores.
O mandato tem a duração de seis anos.
Tom Lemense is recent benoemd als bestuurder in de raad van bestuur van de Belgisch-Portugese Kamer van Koophandel, gevestigd te Brussel.
De Belgisch-Portugese Kamer van Koophandel is opgericht in 1938, met het oog op de bevordering van de commerciële contacten tussen België en Portugal alsook de Portugese cultuur in België. Deze stichting gaat terug op een aanwezigheid in België van Portugese handelslieden vanaf minstens 1500, wat bv. geduid werd door de aanwezigheid van de zogenaamde Portugese Natie in Antwerpen, dewelke bijzondere privileges kreeg in het handels- en gerechtelijk verkeer.
De persoonlijke band van Tom Lemense met Portugal en het feit dat hij de Portugese taal machtig is, heeft de wens gecreëerd om dit engagement aan te gaan. Deze wens is professioneel geïnspireerd, maar ook cultureel, vanuit een liefde voor Portugal.
Tom Lemense hoopt in de komende jaren een actieve bijdrage te kunnen leveren aan de verdere uitbouw van de Kamer van Koophandel en kijkt hierbij uit naar de samenwerking met de andere bestuurders.
Het mandaat is voor 6 jaar.
